On December 30th, according to foreign media reports, TSMC's Arizona factory will begin mass production of 4nm technology in the second half of 2025, with customers such as Apple, Nvidia, AMD, and Qualcomm being the main beneficiaries.
However, it is not so user-friendly for consumers, as if that were the case, everyone would have to bear a 30% price increase.
Why do you say that? The report mentioned that TSMC's 4nm process will be put into operation in the first phase (1A) of the Arizona factory, but the production cost is expected to be 30% higher than the existing one, which is a concern for American customers.
It is reported that the factory will be responsible for 4nm production, but this is the first phase plan because in the second phase, TSMC plans to mass produce 2nm in 2028, although this is still somewhat uncertain at present.
According to relevant sources, TSMC's production costs in Arizona will be about 30% higher, mainly due to the lack of stable process yield materials in the United States and shortages in the US semiconductor supply chain.
