For example, having a built-in phone holder reflects Lei Jun's attention to detail. Recently, Wuhan Release published an interview with Lei Jun, in which he talked about how he transformed from an outsider to a car factory owner.

Lei Jun stated:

Three years ago on the evening of March 30, 2021, I said at a press conference that I wanted to fight for Xiaomi Motors. I am well aware of what this sentence means. From that moment on, I will become a "primary school student" again, learning an extremely complex industry from scratch, and facing a long century long journey from scratch.

The first step is to find a group of like-minded people. After announcing the car manufacturing, we received tens of thousands of resumes in a short period of time, and a group of outstanding talents from all over the industry gathered under the banner of Xiaomi Motors.

At the same time, we conducted a large number of visits and humbly sought advice and learning from industry predecessors and benchmark enterprises. In the five months after announcing the car manufacturing, we conducted extensive user research and industry chain investigations, conducted over 2000 research interviews, and visited and deeply communicated with more than ten industry peers and partners.

To make a car, one must love and understand it. I have set a goal for myself to drive at least 100 cars, carefully study the advantages of each car, and learn from their outstanding strengths. In the past two years, I have driven over 150 cars.

Even, I asked my colleagues to buy a whole basket of mainstream phone holders on the market, experience them one by one, and finally decided to do it themselves. We found that there is currently no dedicated bracket position for cars on the market, so we designed three standard screw ports specifically for phone holders.
