On August 28th, according to Yogesh Brar, a whistleblower, Xiaomi's customized chip will be unveiled next year, using TSMC's N4P process technology, with performance data similar to Snapdragon 8 Gen1, and using a Ziguang Spreadtrum 5G modem.
At present, there are very few details about Xiaomi's customized chips. Public information shows that Xiaomi's self-developed chips can be traced back to the debut of the Pengpai S1 in 2017, which was first installed in the Xiaomi 5C.
Subsequently, Xiaomi successively launched a series of customized chips, such as the Pengpai C1, which focuses on professional imaging. It is understood that the Pengpai C1 can achieve finer and more advanced 3A processing, adopt a dual filter configuration, and can achieve parallel processing of high and low frequency signals. The digital signal processing efficiency is improved by 100%, and the CPU and memory usage are very low.
After the Pengpai C1, Xiaomi continued to make efforts and successively launched the Pengpai P1 charging chip, Pengpai G1 power management chip, and so on.
Lei Jun once stated that Xiaomi's R&D investment in the next five years will exceed 100 billion yuan. In 2017, it invested 3.2 billion yuan, last year's 19.1 billion yuan, and this year it is expected to reach 24 billion yuan.
He said that continuously increasing high R&D investment will enhance Xiaomi's competitiveness unprecedentedly. Xiaomi adheres to the long-term principle, chooses the technology track that has long-term value for human civilization, and insists on long-term investment. From the mode innovation, application innovation and scene innovation of the Internet, it will become the innovation of hard core technology, and is committed to becoming the leader of the new generation of hard core technology in the world.
