According to media reports, with the significant increase in support for the semiconductor industry by the Japanese government, many technology giants have turned their attention to Japan and chosen to establish high-end research centers and production bases in Japan to seize the future technological high ground.
Previously, Nvidia announced a partnership with Japan's top research institution, the Institute of Advanced Industrial Technology (AIST), to jointly develop a future oriented quantum computing system. Now, AIST has once again made efforts to target another giant in the semiconductor industry, Intel. It is expected to be officially put into operation within the next 3 to 5 years.
The R&D center is expected to cost hundreds of millions of dollars, which not only provides Japanese local enterprises with a valuable opportunity to fight side by side with Intel and AIST, jointly explore the unlimited possibilities of EUV lithography technology, carry out prototype design and testing, but also greatly reduces the dependence of Japanese chip design companies on overseas resources, and accelerates the pace of local innovation.
